2d nerdle is a two-dimensional version of the classic nerdle game. You’re given a grid of tiles that have been jumbled up. Swap two tiles at a time to create a magic square of valid calculations – every row across and every column down must form a correct equation.
After each swap, colour-coded feedback tells you how you’re doing:
You earn one star for every move you don’t use, up to a maximum of 6 stars – so fewer swaps means a better score.
There’s also an unlimited mode if you want more than one puzzle a day.
Both 2d nerdle and cross nerdle involve grids of interlocking equations, but the mechanic is different. In cross nerdle you fill in empty squares from scratch; in 2d nerdle all the tiles are already on the board and you rearrange them by swapping pairs. If you enjoy one, you’ll likely enjoy the other.
